Tramadol Uses
Tramadol Hydrochloride treats pain by reducing the size or magnitude of the pain signal passing through the nerves to the brain. The recommended dose of tramadol is 1-2 50mg tablets every 4-6 hours as needed for moderate to moderately severe pain.
How is Tramadol Taken?
Tramadol Hcl comes as a tablet and is taken orally, every 4-6 hours, with or without food.
Precautions
Before taking Tramadol Hydrochloride, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease; liver disease; or a history of alcohol or drug dependence. Be aware that Tramadol Hcl can be habit-forming. Tramadol Hydrochloride is not approved by the FDA for use by children younger than 16 years of age.
Side Effects
Although side effects from Tramadol Hcl are not common, they do occur. Tell your doctor if symptoms are severe or do not go away.
Overdose
Symptoms include difficulty breathing; shallow, weak breathing; and seizures. Seek emergency medical attention.
Information
Do not drink alcohol while taking Tramadol Hcl as it causes drowsiness. Also, avoid sleeping pills, tranquilizers, sedatives and antihistamines as these drugs may also increase drowsiness.
